Family Mart : A New Convenience Store Chain Opens

If you visit Cebu you can see 7/11 and Mini-stop Convenience stores almost everywhere. These stores are popping up like mushrooms all over the metro, but in a city where these two store chains are kings, a new kid in town is coming to play.

Family Mart in Cebu : Welcome to the Family

Family Mart, a Japanese convenience store chain, is also the second largest in the world. This Japan – based chain started serving Filipino consumers last 2013, with all of its 100 stores housed in Metro Manila.
It opened its doors to Cebuanos, last July 31, 2015.
Family Mart is expanding its business down south, opening its first store outside Metro Manila, in Cebu. Today, Family mart has a total of five branches here in Cebu and these numbers are expected to triple at the end of the year.

These are the stores’ location:

One in Arc One Capitol Square (Escario Street, Cebu City)
Streetscape (Paseo Santurnino St., Maria Luisa Rd, Banilad, Cebu City),
Three stores in Ebloc Towers 1, 2, and 3 ( Cebu IT Park, Cebu City)

The company is very aggressive in putting up stores in Cebu, Davao, and Iloilo next year in fullfilment of their business plan to open 500 stories in the Philippines by the end of 2018.

What to expect:

Family Mart has a very light and calming ambiance. The interior is very sleek , neat and organized. It has incandescent yellow bulbs for lighting that gives off a warm tone, perfect for taking photos and selfies.
Seating areas are plentiful and spacious, so finding a seat wouldn’t be a problem. To make it even greater, most of the stores have a comfort room as well which its competitors don’t have.

A must-try is their twirl-all-you-can soft-serve ice cream. It comes in two flavors, green tea and black sesame seeds and you can have them mixed as well.
