QQ English: Classrooms and Classes

QQ English is an ESL-based school situated in Cebu IT Park, Lahug, Cebu City Philippines. This school is known for the convenience with the surrounding location (e.g IT Park) and the efficient teachers.
So, today were going to delve deeper into the structure of QQ English! I interviewed another teacher from this school to enlighten me about school’s courses and classrooms. And Miss Lyn Airesse Undaloc or popularly known as teacher Sabina was willing to answer my questions.
There are two types of classes in QQ English with also two types of classrooms. The group class and man-to-man class can be partnered with silent classrooms or noisy classrooms and even both. The students can choose whichever he or she likes best.

Its all about comfort:

The students’ comfort is one of the topmost priorities of the school, that’s why they advice and give the best classrooms and classes for the students benefit.
Group classes have the maximum number of six (6) students per class, but usually it depends on the students who’d want to enroll in this class. Group classes take fifty (50) minutes to finish. Man-to-man classes, like group classes also take fifty minutes to finish. This class, as what the title implies, is strictly between a teacher and a student only.

Silent classrooms are located in the seventh floor. Students can choose whether they’d take the group classes or man-to-man classes in here. Silent rooms are focused on the basic English lessons. The serenity and silence of the rooms help the students comprehend easily to what the teachers are teaching. Once the student is ready, he/she can attend classes in the noisy classrooms in the tenth floor. Noisy classrooms are replicas of the natural environment. As we all know, the real world is noisy. The noisy classrooms are mostly for speaking practices, focused on the application of lessons learned by the students. Basically, this is the training ground for students.

In addition, students take monthly assessments to test their capacities. This will also see the students improvements and strengths. Changing of classes or curriculum are done once the student is ready and has shown improvements in his/her studies.
On Mondays, new students/enrollees take a level test to determine their abilities and levels and to give the right lessons for them. The levels include: Low Beginner, Beginner, High Beginner, Intermediate, High Intermediate and Advance. These levels have specific attributes and specialties according to Teacher Sabina.

Students also choose what time period they’re going to get. Students, especially the VIPs stay for only one week with a tight schedule. Others stay for a month, two or three while the longest stay for six. If the students wish to stay longer, it can also be done.
I thanked Teacher Sabina for all the information that I’ve gathered. A few minutes later, her student arrived. When asked about his level, he laughed and said he’s in the Intermediate level already. I took pictures of them before leaving.
