An opportunity came and I was given a chance to interview one of the pioneer teachers in QQ English, Teacher LL. She is popularly called that way by the whole student body and the teachers. I was lucky enough to find her classroom empty and so, I interviewed her right away. Fortunately, she said yes. Evidently, the teachers here are so accommodating and friendly.
One of the pioneer teachers in QQ English
For starters, I introduced and myself and afterwards, we had our interview done.
So, I first asked her about some personal information. She mentioned her true name as “Levi Lyn Mayola“. I guess that’s why it’s Teacher LL. She also said, she’s been teaching here for almost three years now.
QQ English started in May 2012 according to a post in Cebu Business Guide.
In another question, I asked her about the nationalities of the students she’s handled. She smiled and said most of her students were Japanese, but she also had Taiwanese, Koreans, and Iranians students. She also added that there are Russian students in the school but she hadn’t handled one.
Writing down what Teacher LL just told me.
As my last question for Teacher LL, I asked her about the benefits of studying English in Cebu. She eagerly answered me through giving out pointers.
First, group classes. If students are accustomed learning with a group of other students, this could be their choice.
Second, guided classes. If students aren’t comfortable learning with a group of students, they could choose this type of class. Teacher LL emphasized that guided classes are strictly between a teacher and one student only or what she called “man to man”. She also said that this type of class helps students realize their strengths and weaknesses as a student.
Third is Cebuano Teachers’ proficiency in speaking English. She also said that the teachers here do not speak “slang English” unlike English speaking natives. She also mentioned the good writing and speaking abilities of teachers here in Cebu.
And lastly she said, the exposure to other nationalities is another benefit as well. Students do not only interact with their fellow students from the same country but they’re also interacting with students from other countries too. Teacher LL said this will really help the students with their communication skills because they have to interact using the English Language they learned in class.
An interesting interview with Teacher Levi Lyn Mayola or popularly Teacher LL
After the interview, we had a photo taken. Teacher LL is indeed one of the many friendly faces here in QQ English. It’s a privilege of mine to have had an interview with this very gracious and superb teacher! Keep it up Teacher LL, I’ll see you again soon!
